Melissa and Michelle McEwen: Gender, Race, Role

Join us Thursday, September 8th, when Riverwood Poetry Series presents sisters Melissa and Michelle McEwen.

Please note we have moved to the Universalist Church of West Hartford (433 Fern Street, West Hartford). Doors open at 6:30 for refreshments and conversation. Poetry begins at 7 PM. Open mic precedes the featured poets. Free of charge! Donations gratefully accepted.

About the Poets:

Hartford resident Melissa McEwen is a two-time Pushcart nominee. Her poems appear in various journals and anthologies, including Rattle, Poets/Artists, Just Like A Girl!, and Dead Mule School of Southern Literature.

 

Michelle McEwen is the author of “Delicious Dangerous,” a poetry chapbook published by Didi Menendez for the Mipoesias Chapbook series in 2010. Her work appears in numerous online and print journals including: Poets/Artists, Umbrella Journal, Big City Lit, The Caribbean Writer, Naugatuck River Review, and in the anthology: The Best New Poets 2007. Her poem, “Sucker,” was nominated for the Pushcart Prize. When she isn’t busy writing, she’s busy reading, running, and raising her two sons, Zion and Justice.
