Joy Ladin: “Recognizing Ourselves: Poetry of Gender, Identity, and Acceptance”

Please join us Thursday, October 13th, for a reading by and conversation with Massachusetts poet Joy Ladin.

Please note we have moved to the Universalist Church of West Hartford (433 Fern Street, West Hartford). Doors open at 6:30 for refreshments and conversation. Poetry begins at 7 PM. Open mic precedes the featured poets. Free of charge! Donations gratefully accepted.

About the poet:

Joy Ladin is the author of seven books of poetry, including Lambda Literary Award finalists Impersonation and Transmigration, and Forward Fives award winner Coming to Life. Her memoir of gender transition, Through the Door of Life, was a 2012 National Jewish Book Award finalist. Her work has been recognized with a 2016 National Endowment for the Arts Writing Fellowship, a Fulbright Scholarship and an American Council of Learned Societies Research Fellowship. She holds the David and Ruth Gottesman Chair in English at Stern College of Yeshiva University. Links to her poems and essays are available at joyladin.com.
