Joan Hofmann is Professor Emerita at the University of Saint Joseph in West Hartford, Connecticut, where she has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in the School of Education for many years, with a special interest in creative writing and students with disabilities.
She directed the Academy for Young Writers with students from local public schools for over fifteen years. Joan received Masters degrees in English from the University of New Hampshire and Trinity College in Hartford. Her poetry has been published in journals and anthologized in books. She serves on the Boards of the Riverwood Poetry and the Connecticut Poetry Society, is a member of the Connecticut Coalition of Poets Laureate and is the Poet Laureate of Canton, CT (2015-2019). Antrim House Books published her collection of poetry, Coming Back, in 2014, and more recently, Grayson Books published Alive (2017). When she isn’t traveling, she is often found walking and hiking along the Farmington River near her home in the historic district of Collinsville, CT.
