Joan Hofmann is Professor Emeritus at the University of Saint Joseph in West Hartford, Connecticut, where she taught in the School of Education, with a special interest in creative writing and students with disabilities. She directed the Academy for Young Writers for over fifteen years. Joan received her Masters degrees in English from the University of New Hampshire and Trinity College (CT). Her work has been widely published in journals including Word Art, Freshwater, bottle rockets, Shapes and Caduceus; it has also been anthologized in Where Flowers Bloom (Grayson Press; in 2014 she published her chapbook, Coming Back (Antrim Press). She serves on the Board of Directors of the Connecticut Poetry Society, is Poet Laureate of Canton, CT (2015-2019) and is a founding member of the Connecticut Coalition of Poets Laureate. She is in love with the natural world, where she can often be found sky-watching and river-walking along the Farmington River near her home in Collinsville.
